In-House confined spaces
CS1 -CS4 are unregulated, non-accredited confined spaces courses, mirroring the City & Guilds content with a few differences. With accredited organisation you typically have a training practical and paperwork session which is then followed with a paperwork and practical assessment. i.e. two sets of entry exercises. With In-House training there is only the one set of exercises except for the extended CS2.
Often there is a multiple choice question paper rather than a written question paper.
If your company only works on your own sites and property then this meets the letter of the law. It is ‘Suitable and sufficient training’, accredited training is not mandatory. Be warned as these are solid cram packed days as effectively you are squeezing an extra day on training into the allotted time.
All courses can be run at your site, facilities permitting or any other site within the UK. Alternatively they can be ran a Swindon Churchill Hotel, 1 mile from the M4 Jun 16.
PPE Protective boots, gloves, helmet, knee pads and full body coverage plus clothing suitable for the time as year as 2-3 hrs will be spent outside each day.
Times Arrive at 0745 hrs to complete paperwork ready for an 0800 hrs start – 1700 hrs

Payment The above prices assume cleared payment is made within 14 days of training, otherwise different rates apply. These start with payment 15-30 days after training, incurring an extra 20% of the overall cost
Fitness Must be physically fit, less than 136kg (Max SWL of some of the equipment), clean shaven to attend CS3 or CS4 as Full BA will be used
Assessment All courses have both practical and the theory assessments which are pass / fail. These are not attendance courses.
Validity All courses are valid for 3 years when they need to be re-sat

Simply answer some basic questions:
Do you require a basic working knowledge of Confined Spaces & a requirement to enter such things as manholes and culverts? Yet you can be seen from the entry point and can exit the space within 30 seconds, then you need Low Risk Confined Spaces CS1. This involves the use of Winch, Tripod and Harness, but not the Escape Breathing Apparatus (EBA).
Do you need to penetrate a system or have multiple entrants who cannot exit within 30 seconds or cannot be seen from the entry point, then you require Medium Risk Confined Spaces CS2, which includes the use of Escape Breathing Apparatus (EBA) and all entrants will have their own individual Gas Monitor. If you need all this and more, then its High Risk Confined Spaces Entry that you need.
If you are required to go into known hostile environments that will require the use of Full Breathing Apparatus (Full BA), then you require the High Risk Confined Spaces Entry CS3 course that covers everything beforehand. Alternatively, if you already hold medium risk confined spaces then this can be done as an add on.
Do you need your own confined spaces rescue team? If so firstly they need to hold High Risk Confined Spaces plus Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or higher and will require the Rescue Course CS4.
